CarloInvite ("we", "our", "us") operates carloinvite.com. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

1. Information We Collect

When You Create an Invite

  • Invite content: The recipient's name, event date, custom message, and questions you enter when building your invite.
  • Photos: If you upload a photo, it is stored securely in our cloud storage and served only through your invite's unique URL.
  • URL path: The unique slug you choose for your invite link.
  • Email address: Only if you join our premium waitlist — never required to create an invite.

Automatically Collected Data

  • Usage analytics: We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site. This includes page views, time on site, and general location (country/city level). No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.
  • Advertising: We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our site. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to our site and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads.
  • Log data: Our servers may log IP addresses, browser type, and referring URLs as part of standard web server operations.

2. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary: Required for the site to function (e.g., your invite creation session).
  • Analytics: Google Analytics cookies to measure site performance. These are anonymized and cannot identify you personally.
  • Advertising: Google AdSense uses cookies to serve relevant ads. These are controlled by Google's privacy policy.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies may affect site functionality.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To create and serve your digital invitation at its unique URL
  • To display your uploaded photo within the invite experience
  • To send you early access updates if you joined our waitlist (you can unsubscribe at any time)
  • To understand site usage and improve our product via analytics
  • To serve advertisements that fund the free tier of our service

4. Data Retention and Auto-Deletion

CarloInvite is built privacy-first. When you create an invite, you choose an expiry period (1–30 days). When that period expires:

  • The invite record is automatically deleted from our database
  • Any uploaded photos are removed from our storage
  • The invite URL returns a 410 Gone response

We do not retain invite content after expiry. Your celebration data is not stored indefinitely.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): Our cloud infrastructure provider (DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, CloudFront). Data is stored in the US-East-1 region.
  • Google: For analytics (Google Analytics/Tag Manager) and advertising (AdSense). Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your invite data before its automatic expiry
  • Opt-out of advertising: Opt out of personalized ads via aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu (EU users)
  • GDPR (EU users): You have rights to access, rectification, erasure, and portability under the General Data Protection Regulation
  • CCPA (California users): You have the right to know what data is collected and to opt out of sale (we do not sell data)

7. Children's Privacy

CarloInvite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us immediately.

8. Third-Party Links

Our blog may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
